From what I have seen its far more active than MAL and overall likely the biggest anime community on the internet.

What are your thoughts on it? I think much like other subreddits its too much of an echo chamber where everything not fitting the consensus is downvoted

Hmm, they probably have a better episode discussions than here and "OC Fanarts" are cool but most of its "discussions" will fade away after an hour or 2. If you want quick responses it's really good though. I don't care about news and other stuff when ANN exists...
And "Watch This!" posts aren't my thing

r/anime is often too much of a clutterfuck for me to enjoy. It's full of fanarts and discussion threads are usually too long to read.

And I wholeheartedly agree with this.

If you read Eleceed you're automatically my friend.

I prefer r/PrequelMemes, we're trying to get a life-size statue of Obi-Wan on Scotland's tallest mountain.

So I've been banned from MAL-Badges, after spending nearly two years of my time and dedication to helping out, being the club's spokesperson, and planning for the revamp, it all goes down the fucking drain. What a joke the club has become. I advise everyone to stop using the feature and stop showing their support for the site and the club. We were promised that we will see changes come to the site, and nothing's been done for the past year. I doubt the site will be touched for the foreseeable future. If you're angry and annoyed about the lack of development, then good, you should be.

A bit of less shitposting in the forums as they end up getting downvoted. But the trade-off would be the hive mind mentality that comes with it and no room for differing opinions. I don't mind it though. We need to just understand how reddit works and take opinions based on that.

Edit - Forgot to mention, but the side bar in r/anime explaining the watching order for so many anime is great and I have started using it.

Ewen, since he's Scottish and Alec is British.

/r/anime tends to talk about shows I'm not watching/familiar with, mostly because they talk about current shows. A lot of series-specific threads populate the front page of that subreddit.

As a result, I have very little reason to hang out there.

I shudder to think about the notion that MAL isn't active enough when it gets piles of posts every day even just within AD.

Yeah but the anime sub is way more active, there are like 11k users online right now compared to 542 users here.

Reddit just leads to bigger communities since you have basically everything (games, movies, news etc.) on one website

I don't lurk that much on reddit anymore but r/anime is ok I guess, I prefer to see episode discussions on other places because r/anime can feel like an echo chamber when it comes to seasonal anime but its a good place to catch up on news, see fan art and etc....

r/animemes is kinda cringe tho.

Yeah, I know.

But given that I think AD already moves pretty fast, I don't think I'd care for even more activity.

I agree with you to some extent. Some parts of the Reddit are certainly terrible and cringeworthy.

But Reddit isn't literal cancer. Only cancer is literal cancer.

With the possible exception of tech support, all of reddit is one giant circlejerk where oppossing ideas aren't tolerated. I've never had an account there because honestly reading reddit bores me to death
